The port of Larvik with stable traffic figures in Q1

The port of Larvik had a turnover in Q1 2020 of 0.45 million tonnes of goods, which is identical to the previous year.

In Q1, The port of Larvik handled a total of 452,600 tonnes of cargo, which is unchanged from 2019. The cargo volume includes a 6 percent increase in ferry freight.

A total of 20,000 TEUs were handled over the container terminal at Revet, a decrease of 10 percent compared to last year.

Looking forward, we must prepare to see changes in the goods- and traffic patterns across Larvik harbor as a direct consequence of the Corona outbreak. Cargo flows change as a result of lock-down and strict requirements for import and export of goods in many countries. Imports from China are primarily based on the consumer market and are strongly influenced by how the Corona measures affect consumption in Norway. Our primary focus during this challenging time is to ensure that freight traffic over Larvik harbor goes, as usual, to secure essential goods and supplies in and out of Norway.
    Port Director, Jan Fredrik Jonas

Revenue in the first quarter of 2020 ended at NOK 14.9 million, which was marginally lower than the same period last year.
